How does DailyType work?
Every day there is one quote — the same for every player in the world. You get one official attempt. Type it as fast and as accurately as you can, then share your result and compare your percentile.
How is WPM calculated?
Standard formula: (characters / 5) / minutes. The timer starts with your first keystroke and stops on the last character. Wrong keystrokes do not advance the cursor, so the final text is always 100% correct.
What counts as accuracy?
Quote length divided by your total keystrokes. If you never miss, it is 100%.
Can I play more than once?
Your first run of the day is your official result. After that you can practice as much as you like — practice runs are not ranked.
Is mobile ranked against desktop?
No — that would be unfair. Phones and physical keyboards are ranked in separate leaderboards, and your percentile is always within your own device class.
When does the next quote appear?
At midnight in your local timezone, Wordle-style.
What data do you collect?
No account, no signup. Your streak and history live in your browser (localStorage). The server receives one anonymous record per day — WPM, accuracy, time, device class — to compute the daily percentile. We use privacy-friendly EU-hosted analytics to see aggregate usage. No ads, nothing is sold.
